Accident

Events that seriously damage your health during a trip are considered to be accidents. They include:
  • traumas;
  • acute poisoning caused by chemical substances, poisonous plants, poor quality food (except for alimentary toxicoinfection, salmonellosis, dysentery), medical products;
  • tick-borne encephalitis (encephalomyelitis) or poliomyelitis;
  • rupture or other type of damage of internal organs or their removal as a result of incorrect medical procedures;
  • death.
Additionally, the following events that occur during a trip are also considered to be accidents:
  • the insured temporarily lost his/her work ability;
  • the insured became disabled;
  • a close relative of the insured died.
In this case you need to contact the insurance company within 31 days of the end of the trip or the medical treatment to claim compensation. This should be done according to the procedure described in article How Do I Claim Compensation?
